Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a sales and marketing campaign

Qualifications:
- BS (Technical Degree Preferred)
- 5+ years experience in one of following (polymer compounding, fluropolymers, plastic extrusion, chemicals, non-wovens or wire & cable)
- Technical selling and presentations with diverse market exposure

R&D MANAGER (Coatings, Thin Films)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Development of new and improved foil stamping, transfer and lamination products. This will be accomplished by a variety of methods including; analyzing competitive products, implementing new raw materials, developing innovative formulations, utilizing market insight processes and the development of color matches to customer specifications.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The R&D Manager interfaces with other functions within the division/organization to achieve results. Working alone or leading and directing a team, successfully formulates complex chemistries and performs product development from concept to commercialization.
The R&D Manager requires primary knowledge of coating formulations, developing new coatings with a thorough understanding of coating technologies and technical expertise in the thin film coating industry. The incumbent understands customer’s manufacturing processes and end product usage to achieve best quality.
The R&D Manager assists Product Management in analyzing opportunities for growth by conducting lab analysis and experiments for new or improved products identified by the Sales/Marketing group and the process of Market Segment Focus, from a customer/market problem or need. The incumbent uses lab and production equipment to make trial runs of new and improved products and completes field trials before they go into production.
The R&D Manager provides expert knowledge, direction and support to direct reports. The incumbent prioritizes projects and communicates effective time utilization for direct reports to ensure success.
The R&D Manager assists other functions on technical matters, including making calls with sales representatives to assist customers with technical problems. The incumbent assists Quality Control and Production with manufacturing problems and decisions pertaining to all products being manufactured.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
1. The R&D Manager primary function is to have a thorough understanding of chemistry, including the development of solvent and water based coatings, accompanied by experience in thin film coating technology, conventional and thermosetting coating technology, and/or adhesive development background. A background in UV curing technology desired.
2. Full development from concept to commercialization of new and innovative products, colors and formulations. Provide detailed information about process control/adjustments to ensure all design and process specifications are met before handing over to the Production staff. Familiarization of Stage Gate processes a plus.
3. Drive the development of innovative and new products by identifying suitable raw materials at a competitive cost. Conduct experiments on existing products and procedures to improve manufacturing processes and to reduce costs.
4. Provide technical support to Production staff as needed to resolve manufacturing issues. Assist engineering, product management, and sales as requested.
5. Ensures success and personal development of direct reports through mentoring and project support.
6. Analyze and test competitor’s products. Review and update existing products so that they meet or exceed the performance characteristics of competitor’s products (benchmarking techniques).
7. Maintain accurate written records of experiments and work related to product reviews or process.
8. Understand his/her responsibilities regarding safety rules and regulations. All safety rules must be followed and all work areas must be kept in a clean and orderly condition.
9. Must be willing to work flexible hours to provide support to key projects, while ensuring an ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. 10-20% Travel required to other business unit locations and customer sites.
10. Solid analytical and problem solving skills. Accuracy and attention to detail important.
11. Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is important.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Position: Director of Applications
Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, directs and oversees Laboratory functions. Provides education and training for technical staff in terms of product development, formulation, testing procedures, raw material data, etc. Manages and supervises in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; monitors overall results and appraises individual performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Responsible for administrative functions including: assigning proper lab personnel for ink trials, customer visits, etc., performance and salary evaluation, interviewing and/or selecting final applicants for hire, conducts employee counseling - provides feedback, disciplinary action, as per company policies and procedures.
Responsible for all technical projects for all customers in the specific region ($80 - 100M) Coordinating between Sales; R&D SCM; HSE; Purchasing departments. The candidate will also communicate with technical staff in other regions in order to find the best solution globally available. Regular participation in international technology meetings and keeping abreast of up-to-date technology and/or all technical aspects of the industry will be required.
Requirements
BS Chemistry (Organic preferred), 10 years comprehensive knowledge of resin, pigment and additive chemistry for printing ink applications, advanced leadership skills and experience working with international markets.
