Job Description:
This posting is for a Polymer Applications Engineer in the Specialty Polymers Technology Division of Company located in TN. The selected individual for this position will be required to:
Identify opportunities through discussions with customers and sales & marketing personnel
Determine fitness-for-use criteria for specific applications through a combination of empirical, experimental, and modeling methods
Reduce the fitness-for-use criteria to fundamental polymer characteristics using their knowledge of polymer structure-property relationships
Determine if a suitable solution is available or if a new product is needed
Propose a course of action based on the analysis
Qualifications:
The desired candidate should possess the following qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field of Science from an accredited college or university.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Broad interests and willingness to take on relatively undefined challenges
General application research and development experience, preferably in areas related to engineering plastics
Strong working knowledge in a broad range of polymer science skills including: structure-property relationships, polymer characterization, and polymer processing.
