The Utilities Engineer will have primary responsible for central utilities on the Site including steam generation, transmission, and efficiency. This position will report directly to the Site Manager and oversee the day to day operations of the steam plant and supporting equipment infrastructure.
The successful candidate will need to have demonstrated the following skill sets:
Track Record of safety commitment and improvement.
Steam System Reliability (both Gas and Coal).
Steam System Efficiency Improvement.
Condensate management, 5S, and reliability engineering.
First class stationary engineer license is preferable.
BSME or BSCME degree is preferable.
Extensive Power plant experience with Natural Gas Boilers and Large Steam Systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop and institute plans for preventive/predictive maintenance on equipment related to areas of specialization to provide reliability and reduce cost.
Monitor equipment performance and make recommendations to improve reliability and reduce cost.
Provide cost estimating and engineering proposals on routine replacement of equipment to correct maintenance problems or for the improvement of processing equipment. Supervise installation of such equipment.
Provide technical support to production and maintenance organizations throughout the plant to evaluate and resolve maintenance problems.
Develop, manage, and participate in programs, methods, systems and practices for maintaining a safe work environment.
Apply corrective techniques to optimize equipment reliability and maintenance cost. Contract other technical and engineering groups for assistance beyond expertise or capability.
Provide training to production, maintenance and other departments in proper operation and care of equipment in area of expertise. Develop the necessary training as required.
Keep current on new technology and equipment and evaluate same for use in plant.
Attend technical meetings and seminars to maintain and improve skills as related to functional discipline and areas of maintenance management.
Actively participates in plant’s Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (EH&S) programs to assure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
Assumes accountability for meeting plant safety goals and various other requirements including training, work permits, critical items inspections, job observations, housekeeping, reporting hazards and issues, and working safely in job assignments.
Actively participates in safety meetings and various other programs while promoting safety through offering recommendations to other employees on working safely.
